MetroLinx Ontario Line RSSOM

Contract Value: $34M (with options, completion 2031)

QCA Systems is providing engineering, automation, and integration services for the MetroLinx Ontario Line, the largest LRT expansion in Canadian history and North America’s largest greenfield rail project. The system will achieve Grade of Automation (GoA) Level 4, delivering fully autonomous operations across the line.

Key contributions include:

• Implementation of a LiDAR-based Guideway Intrusion Detection System (GIDS) with 500 laser scanners
• Deployment of 162 GLX Safety PLCs for advanced control and safety
• SCADA frontend, network infrastructure, field panels, and control cabling
• Overall responsibility for EIC engineering, RAMS, automation, verification, and validation
• Partnership with Rockwell Automation to “productize” a proven European system for North American use
• Commissioning, installation, and construction management
